Timing

15 Minute Games
3 Games Per Hour (4 Games for 5 team Leagues!)
”HYIQ Scoring” Starts with 4 minutes left (See scoring section below)

Fundamental: Required
Competitive: Required
Advanced: Not Required

HYIQ Scoring System

After 10 minutes of play, add +7 to the team with more points at the time, and the game is played to that calculated score.

Example: if the score is 14-10 at after 10 minutes, the game will be played to 21. 21 is the “Magic Number"

This ensures you have to score to win!

3’s will count as 3’s and 2’s as 2’s.

You will have 5 minutes to get to the “Magic Number”

First team to the magic number, wins the game

Sudden Death:

Score Differential

0-1: Next Point Wins

2-3: Loosing team need a stop and a score. If they do, next point wins. If they dont, game is over.

4+ The game is OVER

Sudden Death Rules:

1) The winning team receives the ball first

2) If tied, use the possession arrow

3) In a stop & score situation, if loosing team gets foul shots, they need to get it within a 0-1 point differential to make it a “Next Shot Wins” game. If they dont, game is over.

Check Ball:

The first possession of the game is determined by a foul shot. The gym leader will call out which team will shoot the foul shot.

Every possession starts with a check ball.

Players can start dribble / pass / shoot once the ball is checked in.

Take Back

After a defensive rebound, your team must get the ball behind the 3pt line.

Both feet and the ball have to cross the line.

Players can pass and dribble during a “Take Back” situation.

Substitutions

Report to the baseline

Subs allowed in during check ball situations, wait for the ref to call you in.

Fouls

Shooting Foul: Two Foul Shots
If second foul shot is missed, ball is live. Defense will need to take it back.
If foul shot is made, check up top.

Regular Foul: Check up at Top of the Key
Teams will not be put into the “bonus” due to fouls.

You Cannot Foul Out
You will be asked to sit if fouls have become excessive and are not basketball plays.
Technical Fouls can be called based on the Referees discretion. Resulting in 2 foul shots.


Violations:

Any trash talking, lack of sportsmanship, or plays that purposely in-danger another player will result removal from the game

There is no 3 second violation.

All other violations will be a part of the league, resulting in a check ball.

Terminology

“Magic Number” : Target score after we add 7 to the higher score after 10 minutes of play

“Check Ball”: Check ball at the top of the key to start possession

“Take Back”: On any change of possession in a live situation (Rebound, Turnover) defensive team takes ball back behind 3 pt. line and game continues on

Stop & a Score: The losing team must successfully get a stop and a score to prolong to setup a “Next Point Wins” situation.

Next Point Wins: The next team to make a shot wins, including foul shots. A player must take the lead on a foul shot to win.
